From the 1890s to the 1960s, Jim Crow laws and de facto segregation became wide spread throughout the United States;  they were not just a southern phenomenon. This program explores the racial fears and values that prompted the enactment of these statutes and the practices that surrounded them. In the process, the heroic struggles that shaped the civil rights revolution will be highlighted.

William Moore is a Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Wyoming where he chaired the History department from 1992-2001.  During his tenure, he won a variety of teaching awards and published two books and over 60 articles.
